$25.00$240.00

Chambourcin is a relatively new (1960’s) variety. It is a hybrid of American and French vines, specifically created to be resistant to disease, making it ideal for summer rainfall areas such as the Hunter Valley. It has a beautiful vibrant colour and a very distinct flavour.

Description

This is our first vintage of Chambourcin. 2019 yielded such a small crop that it wasn’t worth producing, 2020 was smoke tainted, which brings us to 2021. Because of the very wet summer, we had a bumper crop, in spite of thinning a huge amount of fruit from the vines early on to ensure the remaining fruit ripened. The 2020/21 growing season was quite challenging in many ways, not least of all having to deal with COVID 19 and all the twists and turns that it presented, so as a nod to a time that I am sure many would prefer to forget, we have named this one our ‘Lockdown’ Chambourcin.
